Health Department issues first heat warning for 2024 summer season

Whitby, Ontario – Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a heat warning for both the north and south Durham Region areas. This is the first heat warning of 2024 under Durham Region Health Department’s seasonal Heat Warning and Information System. Dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected for most of the week.

Whitby, Ontario – As of March 1, Durham Region has moved from the customer self-assessment (TeleRead) water meter card program to all water meter readings by Meter Readers.
The Region is using radio frequency (RF) or touchpad enabled water meters to collect water usage data without entering homes. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham welcomes the first occupants to the 1635 Dundas Street East shelter this morning on March 20.
The Region purchased 1635 Dundas to help address the urgent need for housing and services. This is part of the continuum of care across Durham to support those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
