Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of Aug. 20 indicate that three beaches have elevated levels of E. coli and are unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents of lane restrictions on Kingston Road (Durham Highway 2), from east of Westney Road (Regional Road 31) to west of Harwood Avenue, in Ajax.
When: August 27 to October 2019. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Whitby, Ont. – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents of a road closure on Baseline Road, from Courtice Road (Regional Road 34) to Cigas Road in Clarington.
When: Aug. 27 to Sept. 3.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has been advised by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) of the presence of blue-green algae in water samples taken from the Lakeview Beach East area of Lake Ontario in Oshawa; however, the level of blue-green algae detected does not indicate an algal bloom in the water. Laboratory test results were received from the Ontario MECP late in the day on Aug. 14.
