2021 Health Plan
Message from the Commissioner & Medical Officer of Health
The annual Health Plan communicates Durham Region Health Department’s (DRHD) priorities for the year and is usually shared following Council approval of DRHD’s Business Plans and Budget. Due to the ongoing pandemic, DRHD’s priorities continued to focus on COVID-19 response, as directed by the province, and as such, there was no opportunity to identify priorities for regular programs and services.
Throughout the pandemic, DRHD has been following provincial direction and responding to the needs of our community. Planned response activities in 2021 included vaccine distribution and administration, case and contact management, communications, inspections and investigations, ongoing monitoring and surveillance, testing support, implementation of modified programs to ensure public and staff safety, and plans that can be quickly adapted to mitigate risks. An overview of the Health Department’s activities and accomplishments will be provided in the 2021 Health Check-Up! A quarterly summary of DRHD’s COVID-19 response activities is also included in the following information reports as part of the Council Information Package: 2021-INFO-48 on April 30, 2021; 2021-INFO-81 on July 30, 2021; 2021-INFO-112 on October 29, 2021; and 2022-INFO-07 on February 4, 2022.
