Information about MPOX

MPOX (formerly known as monkeypox) is a viral illness caused by the monkeypox virus that can be spread between people or between people and certain animals. People with MPOX commonly report symptoms of rash, oral/genital lesions, headache, fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, and muscle aches.

Durham Region Health Department continues to monitor any emerging activity of MPOX in the community and follows up with all individuals with MPOX.
