Setting goals and recording your progress

  • Set realistic and achievable goals.
  • Set a weekly plan for your walks.
  • If you have not been walking, start out with short walks (e.g., 10 minutes)
  • Use the physical activity planners to help you stay on track. Print it off or save it to your computer.

Tips for staying motivated

  • Start or join a walking club.
  • Walk with friends and family.
  • Vary your routes so you don't get bored – in your neighbourhood, indoor walking tracks, mall walking, etc.
  • Explore one of the many beautiful trails Durham Region has to offer.
  • Make a walking route at work and walk during breaks or lunch with fellow co-workers.
