An estimated one half million Canadians per year suffer needlessly from food-borne illnesses. Many of these illnesses are caused by mistakes in food safety made by food service workers. Owners and operators of food premises are responsible for preventing these very costly and sometimes deadly events. The most effective method for preventing these illnesses is food handler education.

Durham Region Health Department's Environmental Health Division is offering Food Safety Training & Certification Courses.

The Food Safety Training Certificate meets the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and all Health Departments across the province.
