Learning Earning and Parenting (LEAP)

LEAP helps young (and expectant) parents work toward achieving their Grade Twelve Diploma (Learning), examine the world of work (Earning) and obtain parenting skills (Parenting). Participants range between the ages of 16 and 25 although once enrolled, may remain in the program beyond age 25.  When all three components of LEAP have been completed a $500.00 LEAP incentive is provided to the participant to use toward their own post secondary education or toward their child’s future education

  • Participation is mandatory for 16/17 year olds who have a child AND receive OW in their own right or are a dependant themselves on their parents OW Benefit Unit. Participation in Leap is voluntary for 16/17 year olds who receive OW for their child only.
  • Participation is voluntary for 18-25 year olds who are parents (or expectant) and are in receipt of OW in their own right.
