Durham Region is home to some of the best farmland in Ontario and purchasing straight from a producer has never been easier with 13 farmers' markets and dozens of on-farm retailers.

Eating seasonal, locally produced food is one of the many joys of spending time in Durham Region. You can feel good about how short the distance is from the field to your fork. Supporting local isn’t so much a trend as it is a way of life here as everywhere you turn, there is an opportunity to connect with the folks who produce the food.

Throughout the growing season, there are dozens of Durham farms that invite you our into their fields and orchards to pick your own produce. There is nothing like spending the day out at a farm and seeing where your food comes from.

It is recommended that you call ahead or check a farm's social media before heading out to avoid disappointment. Pick-you-own seasons are weather dependent and availability can change quickly.
