Test Your Knowledge At These Trivia Nights in Durham Region

Where is the Trail Capital of Canada? Where is the house from the movie Billy Madison? What region of the GTA is expected to reach a population of 1.3 million by 2051?
If you can answer these questions, it means that two facts are true. You know a lot about Durham Region, and you’re a trivia whiz. Combine that with some great food and drinks and you're in for an epic night out.
Luckily, you don't have to search far for a trivia night in Durham Region. Whether you’re an expert in general knowledge or you're a Swiftie or Disney fanatic, there's a trivia night waiting for you almost every night of the week.
Mondays
Chronicle Brewery, Bowmanville: Chronicle beer is best enjoyed with fun and games, but they take their trivia seriously! Teams are recommended to reserve their spot on the previous Friday by phone or Instagram DM. Games are a mix of themed rounds including general knowledge, a music round, a picture round, and a bonus round where teams can win or lose up to 20 points.
Pub 12, Cannington: If you live in northern Durham Region or are travelling there for an overnight stay, Pub 12 hosts trivia once a month on Mondays! Dates are not set, so check in with the pub or follow their Instagram page for updates.
Tuesdays
99 King, Bowmanville: If Trivia Tuesday is your thing, you can flex those brain muscles at 99 King! Gather your team of up to eight players and join them for a fun-filled evening of questions, laughs, and friendly competition. Don’t miss out on the chance to showcase your knowledge every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Town Brewery, Whitby: Town’s Trivia Tuesdays have been running for years now, and are a staple of Town Brewery’s culture. Games start at 7 p.m. for seven rounds, plus a bonus round, and teams can max out at six players. The game is identical to the one played at Chronicle on Mondays, so don’t go double dipping just to win an 8-pack of Town beer as the grand prize. There are no reservations but space fills up fast, so best to arrive early!
Banter & Co Brewing, Brooklin: Banter in beautiful Brooklin (try saying that three times fast!) runs trivia every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Teams can go above six players, but be ready to face a one-point deduction for each additional body. Games are usually five to six rounds with a final wager question, and there’s always picture, audio, and video rounds to make the games engaging. Reservations are encouraged!
Wednesdays
Brock St. Brewing, Whitby: Trivia night is serious business on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Head to the third floor to visit the Brock Street Lounge, but make your reservations online first because space can fill up fast! Teams are between 2 and 8 players, and it’s $5 per person to play. Enjoy a fun mix of general knowledge and theme rounds, and of course the winning team will never walk away thirsty!
Old Flame Brewery, Port Perry: A little further North? Come on out to Old Flame in beautiful Port Perry on Wednesday nights between 6:30 and 8:45 p.m. for four rounds of trivia. Teams can be a maximum of 6 to compete - any more is fine, but you’re out of the running for the beer prize! Questions range between general knowledge and music rounds, and the evening is so popular that they’ve begun running a charity trivia night on the third Saturday of each month to support a worthy organization such as Starlight Children’s Foundation, Operation Scugog Food Bank, and Diabetes Canada.
Torchbearer Taproom, Oshawa: One of Oshawa’s newest hangouts blends local brews with fun trivia nights. Every Wednesday night at 7 p.m., enjoy varying round themes and teams up to six. But that’s not all, they also run trivia leagues that go in six-week rotations, and all trivia games have prizes. There’s also a themed trivia every two to four weeks. Reservations are encouraged (although you can typically squeeze in at the bar).
BOND|ST Snack Bar, Oshawa: Looking for your trivia fix in downtown Oshawa? Go visit Eddy at the snack bar located in the BOND|ST Events Centre. Games are usually general knowledge, although Eddy does throw in the occasional theme for fun. Winners each receive a $10 gift card for teams of up to six people. Games start at 7 p.m., so be sure to make your reservations in advance.
Tilted Glass, Bowmanville: When your bowling league isn’t enough, check out Tilted Glass’s trivia leagues! Trivia runs every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but teams can also join in a league-style competition for two month increments. The games are from the same provider as Chronicle and Town, with a maximum of eight players per team. There are also sponsored themed trivia nights that happen from time-to-time that include snacks and prizes, so keep an eye on their Instagram for updates!
Thursdays
Bollocks Pub, Oshawa: Trivia has become so popular at Bollocks that they’ve moved it to the back party room, where players can enjoy questions displayed on screens around the bar. Games are abbreviated to five rounds, including a music round. Players can enjoy items from the restaurant’s full food and drink menu, and winners receive prizes at the end. To the victor goes the spoils! Reservations are recommended.
Falcon Brewery, Ajax: Trivia at Falcon isn’t always a weekly event, but it is entirely homemade–making it a must-try for your trivia night bucket list! Their host writes their own game, which features eight rounds of eight questions, each in a wide array of categories. Teams are up to six people max, but space fills up early. Be sure to make your plans in advance when you see their next trivia night listed on Instagram or Facebook!

Hub of Trivia & Events: Originating out of the Hamilton area, Hub of Trivia & Events is working to launch both general and themed trivia nights across Ontario, and demand throughout Durham Region has skyrocketed. You can often find them at Melanie Pringle’s in Whitby with themed games, such as The Simpsons, Friends, Harry Potter, the 1990s, and so many more–traditionally catering towards millennial attendees, but everyone is welcome.
While this list of trivia nights in Durham Region is long, it is nowhere near complete! There are plenty of other bars, restaurants, and pubs around the region that offer their own trivia nights, as well as other game and theme nights to appeal to almost any crowd. And with new venues opening regularly, trivia seems to be a quick way to build high demand and a regular customer base.
