Weekly beach test results now available online through Check&Go! Durham

Whitby, Ontario – Starting with the 2025 Beach Monitoring season, Durham Region Health Department will now post test results for all inspected local public beaches on the Health Department’s disclosure portal, Check&Go! Durham. This online access will provide area residents with real-time weekly inspection results.

Are you thinking of taking part in Durham Region’s Curbside Giveaway Day on Saturday, June 14?
Here’s how it works: on the event day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., residents place unwanted items (in good condition!) – clearly marked as “Free” – on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the day, residents return unclaimed items to their home.

Waste collection changes for Canada Day

Whitby, Ontario – Residents are reminded that their normal waste collection day will be shifted to the next day the week of July 1 due to the Canada Day holiday.
Where: The Region is responsible for curbside waste collection in Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge.
When: Waste collection scheduled for Tuesday, July 1 will be moved to the following day. This shift will continue through the rest of the week, ending with Friday, July 4 collection being moved to Saturday, July 5.

Tentative agreement reached with Durham Region Transit and Unifor

Unifor Local 222, which represents operators, maintenance staff, customer service representatives and others. This tentative agreement is subject to a ratification vote by the Unifor Local 222 members.
This means that—at this time—there will be no interruption to regular DRT services and all services will continue to operate as scheduled. DRT will not be implementing the contingency service change for the evening of Friday, June 6, 2025, and regularly scheduled service will be available.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Regional Highway 47 in the Township of Uxbridge.
When: June 9 until August 26. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: Regional Highway 47, from 900 metres east of Regional Road 30 to Goodwood Road (Regional Road 21), in Uxbridge.
