Upcoming lane restrictions from September 15 to December 31, daytime only, on North Street, from 200 metres north of Grady Drive to 370 metres south of Concession Road 3, in the community of Newcastle in the Municipality of Clarington. Lane restrictions will be in place to safely construct a multi-use walkway and place surface asphalt in support of new development.

Curbside Giveaway Day is back on Saturday, September 19 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to help turn your unwanted goods into someone else’s treasure! Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in co-operation with the local area municipalities, where residents can place unwanted items still in good condition—clearly marked as “Free”—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Curbside Giveaway Day, residents should bring any items that were not taken back into their homes.

The Region of Durham is advising residents and businesses of an upcoming road closure from September 9 to December 31 on Liberty Street North (Regional Road 14), from Longworth Avenue to Bons/Freeland Avenue, in the Municipality of Clarington for road reconstruction, installation of sewer collection and watermain distribution systems, and the construction of a new roundabout.

The Region of Durham invites residents to attend the first-ever Durham Newcomer Day, presented by Team Kartik.

Hosted by the Region of Durham, in partnership with the Durham Employment and Newcomer Centre, this free, family friendly event brings together newcomers and long-time residents to celebrate the diversity that makes Durham Region a great place to live, work and grow.

Durham Region is advising residents of lane restrictions on Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57), Durham Regional Highway 2 and Stevens Road in the Municipality of Clarington from August 31 to September 30 to safely complete road rehabilitation and paving.

On September 18, 2026, the Region of Durham is hosting a walk in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 

In response to escalating U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, Durham Region is bringing together the Durham Economic Task Force to better understand local impacts and co-ordinate support for businesses. The Region remains focused on protecting jobs, supporting industry and building on Durham’s strong tradition of innovation and resilience.

The Region of Durham would like to remind residents that harvest season is coming soon. Drivers may experience temporary delays on roads due to slow moving farm machinery. Motorists are asked to be patient and cautious when sharing the road with these vehicles.
