Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department’s 2018 Nutritious Food Basket (NFB) report shows that the cost of a basic healthy diet for a family of four in Durham Region is calculated to be $853 per month or $197 per week. This represents a 15 per cent increase in food costs over the past five years.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents to keep the health and safety of waste collection operators in mind when they set out their waste for curbside collection.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department was advised by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) of the presence of a blue-green algal bloom in small area of the southwest portion of Frenchman’s Bay, near Sunrise Ave., in Pickering. Laboratory test results were received from the MECP on Oct. 11. Whitby, Ontario – As the cold weather approaches, The Regional Municipality of Durham continues to work with its community partners to help ensure those who are most vulnerable, primarily the homeless population in Durham, take the appropriate precautions and find an emergency shelter. The Region has also made enhancements to available programs and services for the homeless.
