Sport teams in Durham offer plenty of action for fans.

Durham is home to a premier horse racetrack, Ajax Downs, which holds live quarter-horse races from May to October.

We are also host to Canada's largest motorsports complex, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. It hosts major racing events each year and offers speed-seekers a chance to get behind the wheel.

Cycling and mountain biking

Explore Durham Region on two wheels!

Our trails and on-road cycling routes lead through a many breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. Then see the rolling hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine.

We have plenty of scenic stops along the way! Visit farmers markets, art galleries, museums and local wineries. Enjoy a leisurely downtown shopping tour. Sample treats at a bakery or café.

Durham Cycle Tours map

Our waterproof Durham Cycle Tours map includes 14 routes. Each is designed by expert local riders. It lists nearly 100 Ontario by Bike certified bicycle-friendly businesses and bicycle shops. They can help you gear up for your next ride.

Mountain biking

Durham Region has terrain for all mountain bikers, regardless of skill level. The trails of Uxbridge and Ganaraska Forest are popular areas.

You can find mountain biking trails on our interactive trails map. We also encourage you to download the Durham Trails Guide or order a printed copy of the guide. 

Interested in group rides in Durham? Members of the Durham Mountain Biking Association can join weekly rides and participate in trail building and maintenance.
