Drop by the Durham York Energy Centre, located at 1835 Energy Drive in Courtice, for a free family-friendly event on Friday, October 25 and Friday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Oshawa and Brock waste management facilities to be temporarily closed

Oshawa and Brock waste management facilities (WMF) will be temporarily closed to the public to accommodate the installation of new scales.

Oshawa WMF, located at 1640 Ritson Road North in Oshawa, will be closed from October 19 to 24, reopening on October 25 at 8 a.m. Brock WMF, located at C22480 Brock Sideroad #17 in Brock, will be closed from October 31 to November 4, reopening on November 5 at 8 a.m.

With harvest season underway, drivers may experience temporary delays on rural roads due to slow moving farm machinery. Motorists are reminded to be patient and cautious when sharing the road with these vehicles.

Farmers have the important task of transporting the food that feeds our communities, and as part of that transportation they often use public roads to get from field to field, both day and night.

Durham Region uses hardened centre lines in pilot project to encourage road safety

Earlier this year, the Region of Durham installed a hardened centre line on Old Brock Road at the intersection of Brock Road in the City of Pickering as part of a pilot project to guide northbound left-turn movements from Brock Road into the receiving lane. Hardened centre lines are a safety measure consisting of a 3-inch-high rubber speed bump placed on the centre line of a road, extending from approximately 14 metres away from the intersection.

With Durham Region students back to school, road users must remember to keep safety top of mind in school zones.
