Works facilities participate in Doors Open to celebrate Durham Region’s 50th anniversary

Durham Region residents are invited to celebrate the Region’s 50th anniversary by attending our free, in-person family fun events on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine).

Free events are being held at select Regional facilities:

  • Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (901 McKay Road, Pickering)
  • Durham York Energy Centre (1835 Energy Drive, Courtice)
  • Regional Headquarters (605 Rossland Road East, Whitby)
  • Scugog Depot (10 Goodwood Road, Port Perry)

Durham Region will celebrate National Public Works Week (NPWW) May 19 to 25 to recognize the vital services our public works employees provide each and every day. From providing clean drinking water, to collecting waste at the curbside, to maintaining our Regional Roads, and keeping Regional facilities safe and operational, public works is there for you.

As part of Durham Vision Zero, Durham Region is making bicycle crossings easier and safer for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians by installing crossrides along multi-use path routes at intersections throughout the region.

Cochrane Street Bridge Project wins Good Roads’ Municipal Concrete Award

The Region of Durham’s Cochrane Street Bridge Replacement Project was recently awarded Good Roads’ 2023 Municipal Concrete Award.

The Cochrane Street Bridge in the Town of Whitby crosses over the busy Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Rail. The rates for waste disposal have increased at the Region’s Waste Management Facilities to meet rising costs from contracted services while ensuring customer service standards continue to be met.
