Durham Region to test nuclear public alerting system on October 29 and 30

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham will conduct its annual test of the nuclear public alerting system on October 29 and 30. The system is designed to warn people in the unlikely event of an emergency at the nuclear-generating stations in Clarington or Pickering.

Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero and in collaboration with the Township of Uxbridge, The Regional Municipality of Durham is adding a new all-way stop at the intersection of Regional Road 39 and Zephyr Road (Regional Road 13) in the community of Zephyr.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents that the Oshawa and Brock waste management facilities (WMF) will be temporarily closed to the public to accommodate the installation of new scales.  

When and Where:

• Oshawa WMF (1640 Ritson Road North in Oshawa) – closed from October 19 to 24, reopening on October 25 at 8 a.m.
• Brock WMF (C22480 Brock Sideroad #17 in Brock) – closed from October 31 to November 4, reopening on November 5 at 8 a.m.
