Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the area municipalities, is inviting residents to drop off items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal.

When and where:

  • Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), Whitby Operations Centre, 333 McKinney Drive, Whitby
  • Saturday, June 22 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre (parking lot), 91 Elliot Street, Cannington
  • Saturday, September 21 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), 

Lane restrictions on Simcoe Street in Scugog

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) in the Township of Scugog.

When: May 21 to August 16. Daytime only. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Where: Lane restrictions will be in place on Simcoe Street, from 600 metres south of River Street to Saintfield Road (Regional Road 6), in the Township of Scugog.

Why: The lane restrictions will be in place for road rehabilitation work.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of multiple lane restrictions on Centre Street North (Regional Road 2A) in the City of Oshawa.

When: May 21 to 31. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: Centre Street North, between William Street West and Richmond Street West, in the City of Oshawa. One lane will be maintained during this closure.

Why: To allow for the construction of new utility infrastructure.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to remind Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to the scheduled curbside waste and recycling collection due to the Victoria Day holiday on Monday, May 20.

When:
Monday, May 20 to Saturday, May 25.

Where:
For residents in Oshawa and Whitby, there will be no curbside waste (garbage, green bin and blue box) collection on Monday, May 20. Waste collection during the week of May 20 will occur one day later than your regularly scheduled...

Durham Region hosts Doors Open to celebrate 50th anniversary

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region residents are invited to celebrate the Region’s 50th anniversary by attending our free, in-person family fun events on Saturday, June 15.  

When: Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine). 

Where: Doors Open will be taking place at the following Regional sites: 

  • Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant
