Business Count is back: Join online and in-person this spring and summer
Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is gathering employment statistics and data to help build a stronger local economy. Businesses within the Region can count on receiving a knock on their door this spring/summer.
Between May and August, the Region’s Business Count team, recognizable by their navy blue Region of Durham shirts and photo ID cards, is scheduled to visit all businesses in Durham. The team gathers basic information about the type of organization, number of employees, plans for growth, floor space and location.
Businesses – including home-based businesses, agriculture and non-profit organizations also have the option to complete the 2025 Business Count by visiting durham.ca/BusinessCount. The survey primarily takes place in person, with surveyors visiting each brick-and-mortar business in the region to conduct the survey. If we are unable to speak with a business in person, we will also reach out by phone, leave a paper form, or provide the option to complete it online.
The data collected is used for planning and analysis that directly impacts resourcing for services and programming, while growing our local economy. The data will also be used to update Regional and municipal business directories. When seeking out new suppliers, businesses are encouraged to visit the Region’s online directory at durham.ca.
Sensitive data will be kept confidential and used only by the Region and area municipalities. To view the complete Terms of Use, please visit durham.ca/BusinessCount.
