Count your business in: The annual Business Count returns this spring
Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is gathering employment statistics to inform how to support building a stronger local economy – one business at a time. From May to August, the Region’s Business Count team will be visiting businesses across the region. Surveyors, wearing navy blue Durham Region shirts and official photo ID cards, will conduct brief surveys to collect information about business operations, including employment, growth plans, and floor space. Your participation helps support a stronger local economy.
All businesses – including home-based, agricultural, and non-profits – can complete the 2026 Business Count online at durham.ca/BusinessCount. While surveyors will visit every brick-and-mortar business in person, we’ll also reach out by phone, leave a paper form, or provide an online option if we’re unable to connect.
Business Count data plays a key role in planning services and programs that support a strong, growing local economy. It also helps keep Regional and municipal business directories current. Businesses looking for new suppliers are encouraged to visit the Region’s online directory at durham.ca.
Sensitive data will be kept confidential and used only by the Region and local area municipalities. To view the complete Terms of Use, please visit durham.ca/BusinessCount.
“Quality data is essential to understanding and supporting our business community. Through the Business Count, we’re able to better plan services, guide investments, and maintain up-to-date business directories. We thank our local business community for participating – your involvement plays an important role in helping our local Durham economy thrive.”
