Durham Region marks Lunar New Year; welcomes the Year of the Horse

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“I would like to extend warm wishes of health, joy and good fortune to Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and other East and Southeast Asian families in Durham Region as they celebrate Lunar New Year.

This year welcomes the Year of the Horse, symbolizing energy, resilience and forward momentum. These qualities reflect the spirit of our community and the work we do to make Durham Region a place where everyone feels connected, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.

On this festive occasion, please join us in celebrating our community’s rich diversity, shared traditions, and the many residents who make Durham Region a great place to call home.
