Mandatory water restrictions for Bowmanville residents and businesses have been lifted
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has lifted the mandatory water restrictions that were in place for residents and businesses in Bowmanville, in the Municipality of Clarington.
When: Effective immediately.
Where: The community of Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington.
Why: The Region has completed maintenance and resolved the issue on one of three filters at the water supply plant, which had temporarily caused capacity issues that required water restrictions. During this time, the plant maintained its high standard of water treatment, and water quality was not impacted.
Note: Now that the mandatory restrictions are lifted, residents may continue watering while following “odd-even lawn day watering; this is a mandatory requirement from May to September each year under the Regional Water Supply By-law #85-2003.
There are still mandatory water restrictions in place in Beaverton, Cannington, Sunderland, Uxbridge, Port Perry, Orono, Blackstock and Greenbank due to the prolonged period without rain and increased demand during the extreme heat causing a strain on our systems.
Thank you to all Bowmanville residents and businesses for your cooperation during the mandatory water restrictions. Your efforts showed true care for the community and were greatly appreciated.
