Now accepting nominations for the 2026 Durham Region Accessibility Awards
Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) is pleased to announce that nominations for the 2026 Accessibility Awards are now open.
Community members and businesses in Durham Region are invited to nominate an individual or business that has made significant contributions to improving accessibility in the region.
When: Nominations open April 20 through June 5.
Where: Information about eligibility and nomination criteria, along with the nomination form, is available on Your Durham. Printed nomination forms are available at municipal libraries and at the front counter of Durham Region Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby. Printed copies can also be mailed on request by contacting us at accessibility@durham.ca.
Why: The awards recognize efforts to improve accessibility and help raise awareness of barriers faced by people with disabilities.
This year’s awards will be presented at the annual Accessibility Awards Celebration, which will be held on September 17.
