Recommendations for a sanitary sewage pumping station for the Port Perry Employment Area
Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham has completed a Schedule B Class Environmental Assessment (EA) and has recommended solutions for the sanitary sewage servicing for the Port Perry Employment Area in the Township of Scugog. As part of the EA, a Public File Report (PFR) has been prepared and is open for a 60-day public review period.
When and where: The PFR outlines the study process, recommendations and public consultations that took place during the study; it is available starting April 30 and ending June 29, 2026, at durham.ca/PortPerryEmploymentLandsSSPS.
Why: The PFR is part of the Schedule B Class EA process and identifies the following recommendations:
- Construct a new employment area Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station (SSPS) on either the northwest corner of 1520 Reach Street, or immediately west on 181 North Port Road. The final location will be confirmed during the detailed design phase.
- Install a new forcemain along Reach Street.
- Install a dual forcemain system connecting the Nonquon Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP).
