Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is becoming a preferred destination for the film and television (TV) industry, so why not make your business a part of their next film. The film and TV industry relies on hundreds of creative and professional services to make a production successful. Imagine hosting actors in your hotel or restaurant, providing materials to build a set, dry cleaning a production’s wardrobe, renting out equipment or providing vehicles to be used on screen. Get involved by attending a free seminar on how to do business with the film and TV industry—hosted by the Durham Region Film Commission (Film Durham), in collaboration with the Region’s municipal film offices and Parkwood National Historic Site.

At the event, attendees will meet with industry professionals, network, and engage in panel discussions. Topics will include:

  • What products and services are needed by production companies.
  • How to take advantage of opportunities in the sector.
  • Understand the challenges of working with the industry.
  • How to connect with key personnel and market your business.
  • What questions you should ask about sourcing and purchasing timelines.

When: Tuesday, February 11, from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Where: Parkwood National Historic Site located at 270 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa, Ontario

Why: Durham Region provides unique filming locations for the film and TV industry and offers a wide range of locally available goods and services, including equipment, accommodations, transportation, food, personal services, signage, dry cleaners, florists, post-production facilities, construction and more. Keeping production spending in Durham Region benefits local businesses and the local economy.

Notes: Light refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited. Please register by Wednesday, February 5 at 11:59 p.m. at FilmDurham.eventbrite.com.
