Storm Update: Brock Township Emergency April 8, 2025
The Township of Brock declared a State of Emergency and The Region of Durham continues to assist with responding to damage from freezing rain and ice accumulation from recent storms. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance providers to see if storm-related expenses and losses are covered.
Emergency Centre for Storm Relief in Township of Brock
If you need a warm meal or support due to the storm and power outage, visit the emergency centre at the Beaverton Royal Canadian Legion (517 Mara Road, Beaverton). Social Services will be onsite to provide additional support. Hot meals will be served from 12 – 8 p.m., free of charge. The centre will not continue beyond Tuesday, April 8. To connect with social services, please call 311 (within Regional boundary limits) during business hours.
Waste Management
Residents who have fallen branches and trees on their property can prepare their brush for the seasonal leaf and yard waste collection. Bi-weekly seasonal leaf and yard waste collection begins the week of April 7 for the Township of Brock, Township of Uxbridge and Township of Scugog. Brush must be securely tied in bundles up to one metre (four feet) long and 76 centimetres (30 inches) wide. No branch should be more than 10 centimetres (4 inches) in diameter.
Storm-related yard waste only will also be accepted temporarily at the Durham Waste Management Facilities in Oshawa, Scugog and Brock. Standard fees will be waived for dedicated loads of storm-related yard waste until further notice.
Temporary bins have been set up for household waste related to the recent storm for Township of Brock residents only at the following locations:

Residents are asked to please place any food waste resulting from the power outage in your green bin for regular curbside collection. Overflow material will be accepted and can be placed in clear bags or cardboard boxes next to your green bins on your regular waste collection day. Green bins cannot weigh more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds).
