Water service interruption in the Town of Ajax

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is advising residents of a current water service interruption in the Town of Ajax.

Where: The water outage is south of Kingston Road East (Regional Highway 2) to Mandrake Street, between Harwood Road and Salem Road, in Ajax.

When: Repairs of the watermain are currently underway and expected to be completed by late this afternoon (Friday, May 8).

Why: Current construction activity in the area has affected the water supply.

Note: The interruption has extended beyond the area originally anticipated due to conditions encountered during the work. Crews are working to restore service as quickly as possible. When water is reinstated, it is important to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five minutes. This will allow any sediment to be cleared that might have accumulated in your water service. This will also prevent any sediment from entering the hot water system.

The Region realizes that the work is disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
