Water service interruption on Kingston Road in Ajax

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is advising residents of a water service interruption on Kingston Road in the Town of Ajax.

Where: The water service interruption will be on Kingston Road East (Regional Highway 2), from Harwood Avenue (Regional Road 44) to Trott Lane, in Ajax.

When: From May 19 at approximately 5 p.m. to May 20 at approximately 8 a.m. In the event of rain, the work will be rescheduled to the following day.

Why: The water connection is required to service a new watermain along Kingston Road. To safely complete the work, a temporary shutdown of the water supply system is required. Impacted residents and businesses will be notified directly.

This work is part of the construction for the second segment of Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT). For more information on this project, visit: www.durham.ca/BRTHarwoodtoGalea.

Note: Crews will work to restore service as quickly as possible. When water is reinstated, it is important to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five minutes. This will allow any sediment to be cleared that might have accumulated in your water service. This will also prevent any sediment from entering the hot water system.

The Region realizes that the work is disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
