Weed removal

Notice is hereby given that The Regional Municipality of Durham has contracted Turf War Inc. to spray the weeds on hard-surfaced centre medians on Regional roads in the Town of Ajax, City of Oshawa, City of Pickering and Town of Whitby.

The weed control will protect our infrastructure resulting in reduced maintenance and restoration costs. Weed roots damage the infrastructure by cracking asphalt and concrete and lifting or shifting interlocking bricks. The targeted spraying will be done mainly at night to minimize the impact on traffic. The medians are located in the centre of busy roads and are not used by pedestrians.

The work is scheduled to start in approximately two weeks. Weather conditions may impact the work schedule. Signage will be posted on the treated medians.
