Automated speed enforcement continues to improve road safety

Speed is a contributing factor in approximately one-third of fatal collisions. Reducing speed is the best way to reduce both the frequency and severity of collisions in our community.
To help reduce speeds, Durham Region has Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras in some school zones and designated Community Safety Zones on Regional Roads.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham will be opening 1635 Dundas Street East in winter 2024 as a low barrier shelter for people experiencing homelessness. The Region has selected Christian Faith Outreach Centre (CFOC) as the service operator for 1635 Dundas Street East, through a comprehensive Expression of Interest process.
