Whitby, Ontario – Anxious, confused, lonely, sad, scared and worthless are some of the many emotions felt by older adults across Ontario who are suffering from abuse. In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, the Region of Durham reaffirms its commitment to offering help, direction and support to older adults in our communities.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham’s annual line painting season is underway and Durham road users are reminded to exercise caution when approaching line painting vehicles. Before heading out on the road, residents can follow line painting operations in real time using live traffic and navigation apps.

Bridge Washing Ahead: Slow down and stay safe

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region will be washing the Regional bridges in all eight area municipalities.
When: Bridge washing will be underway from June 16 to approximately the end of July.
Where: A total of 132 Regional bridges in the Town of Ajax, Township of Brock, Municipality of Clarington, City of Oshawa, City of Pickering, Township of Scugog, Township of Uxbridge and Town of Whitby.
Why: Washing of the bridges is completed annually to clear any debris and maintain the structures.

Weekly beach test results now available online through Check&Go! Durham

Whitby, Ontario – Starting with the 2025 Beach Monitoring season, Durham Region Health Department will now post test results for all inspected local public beaches on the Health Department’s disclosure portal, Check&Go! Durham. This online access will provide area residents with real-time weekly inspection results.
