Media Relations
Durham Region is committed to transparent and timely communication. We work collaboratively with media outlets to build strong, professional relationships that help inform our communities about Regional policies, programs, services, initiatives and decisions.
Media inquiries
The Communications and Engagement team is the first point of contact for journalists seeking comment from the Region, Durham Region Transit and their spokespeople. Direct inquiries to CorporateCommunications@durham.ca.
For inquiries related to policing, contact Durham Regional Police Service.
For public health-related inquiries, contact the Health Department.
Media access: Regional headquarters and sites
Members of the media and the public can attend open council meetings and committee meetings. There is designated seating for media in Council Chambers with space for recording equipment.
Please email Corporate Communications if you have special technical requirements. Council and committee meetings can also be viewed online.
The area located outside Council Chambers is the preferred space for media interviews or photographs.
To ensure appropriate access and co-ordination, contact Corporate Communications before visiting any Regional site.
Members of the media can request to be added to our distribution list by emailing Corporate Communications.
