Whitby, Ontario – As the air becomes crisp and the leaves change colour, there is no better place to experience fall than on a farm in Durham Region. Throughout the month of October, Durham Tourism is encouraging visitors and the local community to Gather at the Farm for a chance to win an overnight getaway in Port Perry!

Getting lost in a corn maze, picking the perfect pumpkin, taking a wagon ride—you will find it all at one of the many farm events featured by Durham Tourism. Visit a farm store to find fresh ingredients for a fall feast, indulge in delicious treats, and explore handcrafted items from local vendors.

When you gather at the farm, you celebrate the food grown in Durham Region as well as farmers and agri-tourism. Durham has a strong agricultural industry and the joy of buying fresh, locally grown food grown directly from a farmer contributes to sustainable food practices.

Visit a participating farm and enter for a chance to win an overnight getaway to Port Perry. For full contest details, and to find all the farm activities and events in Durham Region, visit DurhamTourism.ca/gather.

While exploring all that Durham Region has to offer this season, don’t forget to share your gathering on social media using the hashtag #GatherAtTheFarm and tag @DurhamTourism in your posts.

Quotes

“I encourage everyone to experience the joy of fall on the farm. Some of my favourite fall memories include visiting local farms with Kathy and my two daughters. Picking apples and going on wagon rides were a highlight. We look very forward to carrying these traditions forward with all of our grandchildren.”

-  John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Region of Durham

“A visit to one of Durham Region’s farms is a fantastic opportunity to create lasting memories with family and friends. And buying fresh ingredients from any of Durham’s farm stores is a delicious way to support local. Gather at the farm this fall and experience Durham’s farm-fresh bounty.”

- Jacquie Severs, Manager, Marketing and Tourism
