The Regional Municipality of Durham is continuing construction for the third segment of the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT) along Kingston Road (Regional Highway 2) from Steeple Hill to Merritton Road in the City of Pickering.

As part of the work, lane shifts and restrictions will be in place during off-peak times on Kingston Road from Steeple Hill to Merritton Road in the City of Pickering.

Durham Region is advising that several Regional facilities, programs and services will be closed on September 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, including Regional Headquarters, Ontario Works offices, Family Services Durham locations, Waste Management facilities and select Health Department services. There will be no impacts to waste collection services, Durham Region Transit service or Regional, directly operated Early Learning and Child Care Centres.

Many government benefits and community supports are available to help residents, but navigating them can feel overwhelming, which is why the ID and Benefits Access Hub will be available this fall for friendly, one-on-one help.

Durham Region is excited to bring back the annual Region of Durham Disability Employment Conference. Bringing together employers, community organizations, educators and accessibility advocates, the one-day conference will explore strategies for building more inclusive workplaces.

The Region of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Liverpool Road (Regional Road 29) in the City of Pickering until December 2026 to safely complete road widening, traffic signal modifications and work on the turn lanes in support of new development. 

Lane restrictions until October 31 on Bloor Street, from 100 metres east of Prestonvale Road to 540 metres east of Prestonvale Road, in the Municipality of Clarington. Lane restrictions will be in place to safely repave the street. Businesses in the area will remain open during construction.

Durham Region Waste Management facilities and the Clarington Household Special Waste Depot will be closed on September 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Residents can still purchase or exchange green bin and kitchen containers online with free home delivery at durham.ca/NewBins, and view service updates at durham.ca/ServiceDisruptions.

The Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee (DAAC) successfully hosted its 24th annual farm tour. The theme "future focused farming in Durham Region” highlighted the importance and contributions of family farms and the dairy industry in Durham Region.

Durham Region is advising residents of daytime and overnight lane restrictions on Brock Road in Pickering from September 21 to October 30, weather permitting. The restrictions, located between Williams Jackson Drive and Dersan Street and Rex Heath Drive and Zents Drive, are required to facilitate construction for a new development. Motorists are asked to exercise caution around pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

The Energy from Waste-Waste Management Advisory Committee (EFW-WMAC) Meeting #61 will be held on Tuesday, September 29, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
