Whitby, Ontario - Throughout the summer, Durham Region Health Department conducts weekly bacteriological water tests to determine if beaches are safe for swimming. The Public Health Ontario Laboratory in Peterborough tests the water samples.

Test results for the week of July 3 indicate that four public beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Did you know? Durham residents can use an online self-service portal to request a service or report an issue to the Region. The myDurham 311 Customer Portal allows residents to submit and track requests for services such as waste and recycling, water and sewer, and traffic inquiries. Road closure on Bowmanville Avenue in Clarington

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure of Bowmanville Avenue in the community of Bowmanville, in the Municipality of Clarington.

Where: Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57), between King Street (Regional Highway 2) and Stevens Road, in Bowmanville.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is exploring potential future uses for the former Ritson School property and welcomes residents to share ideas at upcoming engagement events.
