Durham Region is one of the fastest growing areas in the Greater Toronto Area, and Durham Region Transit (DRT) is growing along with it.
As DRT's Route Ahead Strategy enters it's final year, DRT is charting the network's evolution with the Route Ahead 2030: Five-Year Service Strategy. This next phase sets the course for how our transit network will grow through 2030 and beyond.
As part of this strategy, DRT is developing Local Area Transit Plans for two key growth areas:

The Regional Municipality of Durham is preparing for the construction of the Kingston Road median Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project along Kingston Road (Highway 2) from approximately 300 metres west of Harwood Avenue to Galea Drive in the Town of Ajax. The proposed work will include the following:
- Reconstruction of the existing pavement along with designated median BRT lanes.
- Off-road asphalt cycle tracks in the boulevards.

Cherrywood area - City of Pickering - Water interruption - Public Notice

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be working on a watermain in the area of Cherrywood in the City of Pickering. In order to complete this work, it will be necessary to shut down the water supply system. This shut down will temporarily interrupt the water supply in the area. Please ensure you have an adequate supply of water available during this period.
The watermain valve replacement and scheduled maintenance work will be completed by Eagleson Construction and Regional maintenance staff....

The Region of Durham has contracted IQ Environmental to clean the watermains in Beaverton as part of our regular water supply system maintenance program.
The cleaning program will be performed between April 28 and May 23, 2025.
