Novavax COVID-19 vaccine is now available through the Health Department

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has received a limited supply of the Novavax Nuvaxovid (Novavax) COVID-19 vaccine. Novavax offers a new COVID-19 vaccine option for individuals who are not able to receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or have been waiting for an alternative to the mRNA vaccines. Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine is no longer available at Durham Region COVID-19 community immunization clinics.

Appointment bookings now open for fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine for expanded eligibility groups

Whitby, Ontario - In line with the recent announcement from the province, Durham Region Health Department is expanding eligibility for fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Eligible Durham Region residents can now book appointments which will be available starting on April 8. To book an appointment, please visit durham.ca/vaccineappointment or call 1-888-444-5113. No walk-ins will be available for fourth doses. Vaccines provided for fourth doses will be Pfizer Comirnaty BioNTech and Moderna Spikevax.
Health Department providing immunization clinics for students who missed school-based vaccinations

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is announcing the start of catch-up immunization clinics for students in grades 7 to 12 who need immunizations that were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Beginning April 4 and for a limited time, students can receive Hepatitis B, Meningitis, and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) immunizations at community immunization clinics. Clinics will be open at the Oshawa Centre, 419 King St. W. and Pickering SmartCentres, 1899 Brock Rd., Unit C3 locations....

Due to a power outage, Durham Region Health Department's COVID-19 vaccination clinic located at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, 2440 Durham Regional Highway 2, Bowmanville will be closed on March 8. Clients with appointments are being contacted and their appointments will be re-booked.
COVID-19 booster doses now available for Durham Region youth 12 to 17

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has now expanded eligibility for booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine for youth 12 to 17-years old, as announced by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Individuals 12 to 17-years old will now be able to receive a third dose booster at least 168 days after they received their second dose of a two-dose primary series.
In addition, youth 12 to 17-years old who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are recommended to receive a three-dose primary series...
