Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is celebrating a major milestone as it announces substantial completion of Durham OneNet’s flagship broadband project, Project Genesis.
Enabled by federal, provincial and Regional funding, Project Genesis is a strategic partnership between the public and private sector to build secure, scalable broadband infrastructure that connects underserved communities, improves Regional services and supports economic competitiveness across Durham Region.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department is reminding all residents living within 10 kilometres of the Pickering or Darlington nuclear generating stations to ensure they have a supply of potassium iodide (KI) tablets. These tablets are crucial in reducing the risk of thyroid cancer in the unlikely event of a radioactive iodine release.

Regional Council approves 2025 Business Plans and Budget including water and sewer rates

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council has approved the 2025 Business Plans and Budget including the water supply and sanitary sewer use rates.
The approved budget requires a net property tax increase of 7.4 per cent (4.4 per cent for Durham Regional Police Service, 3 per cent for Regionally supported services).
