Transit operators in legal strike position effective June 7
Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Transit (DRT) will end scheduled bus service by 11 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025, due to the potential of a strike by Unifor Local 222 as early as 12:01 a.m. (midnight) on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Customers are advised to check the detailed listing of last trips at DurhamRegionTransit.com/updates and make alternative transportation arrangements if necessary.

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions and traffic delays on Thickson Road South (Regional Road 26) in the Town of Whitby.
When: May 29 to 31. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: Thickson Road South, from Victoria Street (Regional Road 22) to Wentworth Street (Regional Road 60), in Whitby.
Why: To complete asphalt paving.

Whitby, Ontario – Curbside Giveaway Day is back to help you turn your unwanted goods into someone else’s treasure! Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in co-operation with the local area municipalities, where residents can place unwanted items still in good condition—clearly marked as “Free”—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Curbside Giveaway Day, residents should bring any items that were not taken back into their homes.

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) in the towns of Ajax and Whitby.
When: May 26 to July 14. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: Lake Ridge Road, from north of Rossland Road (Regional Road 28) to south of Taunton Road (Regional Road 4), in the towns of Ajax and Whitby.
