Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of July 29 indicate that five public beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

The Regional Municipality of Durham is undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study to plan for the sanitary sewage servicing needs of the Port Perry Employment Area, identify and review various alternative sites for a new SSPS, and ultimately select a preferred alternative to allow for existing non-serviced areas to be serviced plus future growth of the Port Perry community.
