Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of southbound lane restrictions on Thickson Road North (Regional Road 26), at the Winterberry Drive intersection (just north of Rossland Road), in Whitby.
When: Work is scheduled to begin July 31 and should be complete by November 30. Work will be completed during the daytime only, and lane restrictions will be intermittent as required. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents that a portion of Whites Road (Regional Road 38) in Pickering will be under construction beginning next week.
When: Work is scheduled to begin July 29 and should be complete by September 6. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: There will be lane restrictions on Whites Road, from Dunfair Street to Finch Avenue, in the City of Pickering.

Whitby, Ontario - Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a heat warning for the Durham Region area for conditions expected to begin July 27. A heat warning occurs when the forecast conditions include a daytime high of at least 31°C and overnight temperatures of 20°C or greater, or with Humidex values of at least 40 for two or more days.

Civic holiday will affect blue box recycling collection schedule

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents of changes to scheduled curbside Blue Box collection due to the upcoming Civic Holiday.
When: August 5 to 10.
Where: Residents in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby will temporarily have their collection moved to the following day.
This means that residents with collection scheduled for Monday, August 5 will temporarily have their collection moved to Tuesday, August 6. This shift will continue...

Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of July 22 indicate that one beach has been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the Provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.
