Extreme winter weather in Durham Region: Stay safe and informed

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is experiencing cold temperatures and expecting a major snowfall today.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning and is predicting significant snowfall across the region.
To support the health and safety of all residents, select winter warming locations will offer extended hours. For a complete list of warming locations and hours of operation, visit durham.ca/WinterWarming.
Regional crews are prepared and will be working 24/7 to keep our roads safe. Please keep a safe distance from snow clearing vehicles.
Regional Early Learning and Child Care Centre closures
Due to inclement weather and local school board closures, the following school-based child care centres will be closed on Monday, January 26:
- Clara Hughes Early Learning and Child Care Centre
- Lakewoods Early Learning and Child Care Centre
- Village Union School Early Learning and Child Care Centre
- Sunderland Early Learning and Child Care Centre
There is no change to operations at any of the Region’s other child care centres at this time.
