Canada Post Labour Disruption
In the event of a Canada Post labour disruption, the Region will not send large mailings like notices, Ontario Works (OW) cheques and bills, and will not be able to receive incoming mail.
Other Ways to Access Services
- Water and Sanitary Sewer Bills:
- Access and pay bills through Durham Region’s web-based portal at MyDurhamWater.
- You can pay your water and sewer bill at a financial institution or by cheque at the following drop box locations:
- Ajax: Municipal Office, 65 Harwood Avenue South
- Brock: Municipal Office, 1 Cameron Street East, Cannington
- Clarington: Municipal Office, 40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville
- Oshawa: Municipal Office, 50 Centre Street South
- Pickering: Civic Complex, One The Esplanade
- Scugog: Municipal Office, 181 Perry Street, Port Perry
- Uxbridge: Municipal Office, 51 Toronto Street South
- Whitby: Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East
New bills will be delayed until the disruption ends, but payment dates will be adjusted. Residents must still pay any recently received invoices by the due date.
- Ontario Works (OW) Payments:
- Pick up cheques at your local OW office starting on May 29 at 9 a.m. and on subsequent days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 605 Rossland Road, Whitby office only)
- Direct deposit and Reloadable Payment Card (RPC) payments will continue as usual.
- You must report income changes and other circumstances to your caseworker.
- To pick up a cheque, bring two valid forms of ID. If someone else is picking up for you, they need your ID and signed consent.
- Other Social Services Programs:
- Pick up or deliver documents in person at Regional Headquarters or your local office.
- Durham Region Local Housing Corporation:
- Hand in documents in person at Regional Headquarters or Durham Regional Local Housing Corporation sites for scanning and return.
- Provincial Offences Act (POA) Fines:
- Pay fines in person at Regional Headquarters, online at www.paytickets.ca, over the phone at 905-668-3130 or 1-866-779-8839, or at any POA court office in Ontario.
- For time-sensitive material, visit the court office at 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby. General inquiries can be emailed to poa.courts@durham.ca.
- Durham Region Transit (DRT) Specialized Services:
- Drop off applications at Durham Regional Headquarters or DRT Customer Service counter at 110 Westney Road South, Ajax during regular business hours.
