Regional Early Learning and Child Care Centre closures

Due to inclement weather and local school board closures, the following school-based child care centres will be closed on Monday, January 26:

Clara Hughes Early Learning and Child Care Centre
Lakewoods Early Learning and Child Care Centre
Village Union School Early Learning and Child Care Centre
Sunderland Early Learning and Child Care Centre

There is no change to operations at any of the Region’s other child care centres at this time.

We regret any inconvenience that has been caused and appreciate your patience.

Extended winter warming hours at select locations

The Region of Durham strives to support the health and safety of all residents, which includes providing warmth and shelter during the coldest months.

Select winter warming locations will offer extended hours in response to the extreme weather alert. Extended hours are as follows:

Ajax Town Hall, Council Chambers
65 Harwood Avenue South, Ajax (access to the space is available through the Council Chambers entrance)
This space will be open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting January 23 and will remain open nightly until the cold weather alert is lifted.

CFOC – Doors of Compassion
605 Rossland Road East, Whitby
January 24 at 8 p.m. to January 25 at 12 noon
January 25 at 8 p.m. to January 26 at 8 a.m.

Cornerstone Out of the Cold Program
Cornerstone Gym, 121 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa
