Celebrating Welcoming Week 2026 in Durham Region
Whitby, ON - From September 10 to 19, the Region of Durham, together with the Durham Local Immigration Partnership (DLIP) and local newcomer-serving organizations, will celebrate Welcoming Week.
Welcoming Week is an annual campaign that brings neighbours from diverse backgrounds together to build stronger connections and recognize the important role inclusive and welcoming communities play in our collective well-being and growth. It is an opportunity to celebrate the people, partnerships and organizations that help make Durham Region a place where everyone feels they belong.
We all belong in Durham, and we welcome and celebrate those who are new to the region.
Immigration enriches our community by bringing global talent, contributing to the labour force, creating businesses, and enhancing social and cultural diversity. These contributions are essential to building a healthy, prosperous and thriving Durham for all.
DLIP works alongside community organizations across the region to support newcomer integration through programs, services and resources that help individuals and families settle, connect and succeed in their new communities.
