Durham Region celebrates all abilities on International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity to celebrate people of all identities and abilities and their contributions to our community. This day recognizes the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world. It also emphasizes the importance of ensuring persons with disabilities participate in the decision-making processes that affect their lives. Their diverse perspectives are important voices for continuing to build a barrier-free and inclusive society.

As our region grows, we will continue to prioritize accessibility and inclusion across all programs and services. While we recognize the progress that has been made, we know that there is still work to be done. Together, we can create a region for everyone.”
