Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit construction from Steeple Hill to Merritton Road in Pickering

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is advising residents of upcoming construction for the third segment of the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT) along Kingston Road (Regional Highway 2) from Steeple Hill to Merritton Road in the City of Pickering.

When: From September 28, 2026, to August 31, 2028. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule. 

Where: Lane shifts and restrictions will be in place on Kingston Road between Steeple Hill and Merritton Road throughout construction.

• From late October 2026 to summer 2027, Kingston Road will be reduced to one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes for an extended period to accommodate major wastewater construction.
• In late 2027, Kingston Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersections of Whites Road and at Fairport Road for longer durations to facilitate construction of the new transit stop platforms.

Why: To safely construct the third segment of the DSBRT line.  

Note: This project is partially funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
