Free tax clinics aim to help residents access income benefits

Whitby, Ontario – Filing your taxes might feel stressful, but for people living with low or no income, it’s one of the easiest ways to put more money in your pocket. In Ontario, filing your taxes is the gateway to more than 40 income benefits that can help with everyday costs like housing, food and utilities. To help with the process, the Region of Durham is offering free tax clinics to help eligible residents file their taxes at no cost.

What: Residents with low or no income and a simple tax situation can receive help with filing their income tax at free tax clinics.

Why: There are more than 40 income benefits in Ontario that can only be accessed through filing your taxes. By filing your taxes, you can access money to help cover your basic needs.
