Imagining new public outdoor spaces surrounding the former Ritson School

Whitby, Ontario – Residents are invited to join a virtual engagement session to learn more about the Ritson School Project, ask questions and explore ideas for the public outdoor space next to the school building.

The Ritson School Project will restore and reuse the historic school building to become a community hub. On vacant parts of the property, it will provide new affordable and market rental housing.

What: The Ritson School Project public outdoor space virtual community engagement session.

When: August 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. A recording of the session will be posted on the project website for on-demand viewing.

Where: This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom at bit.ly/3TQELSI.

Why: The Region of Durham purchased the former elementary school, located at 300 Ritson Road South, Oshawa, from the Durham District School Board in 2022. Feedback from this session will help guide the design of inclusive, connected, welcoming and sustainable public spaces next to the school building.
