Lane restrictions on Rossland Road West (Regional Road 28) in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Rossland Road West in Whitby.

When: July 13, 2026, through August 30.  Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: Rossland Road between Des Newman Boulevard and McQuay Boulevard.

Why: Lane restrictions will take place to modify the centre median island and eastbound curb lane on Rossland Road, creating an eastbound and westbound turn lane that will lead into a proposed commercial development on the south side of Rossland Road West. There will be modifications to existing curb lines, centre median islands, the multi-use path and pavement markings.

One lane in each direction will be open to accommodate traffic along Rossland Road West. These restrictions are to ensure the safety of the traveling public and the construction workers.

Note: The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
