Ministry of Transportation: Wilson Rd. S. closure for Highway 401/Wilson Rd. overpass replacement

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is undergoing work to replace the Wilson Road South overpass structure along Highway 401 in Oshawa. As part of the construction operations, MTO will be implementing a long-term full closure of Wilson Road South from Dieppe Avenue to Bloor Street East.

When: March 24, 2025 to late 2026.

Why: To replace the Highway 401/Wilson Road overpass, including the lowering of Wilson Road and improvements to the associated embankments, retaining walls, noise barriers, drainage, lighting and signage.

Details: During this period, both lanes of Wilson Road will be closed from Dieppe Avenue to Bloor Street East.

Southbound traffic on Wilson Road will be detoured at Olive Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured at Bloor Street/Dean Avenue and Dieppe Avenue will be closed with local traffic only.

Appropriate signage will be installed prior to the closure to notify the public of the closure’s date and times. All detour routes will be clearly outlined by the appropriate detour signage to guide traffic.
