Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero, The Regional Municipality of Durham has installed a new protected left-turn signal at Regional Highway 2 and Courtice Road in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Courtice.

Where: The eastbound left-turn lane at Regional Highway 2 and Courtice Road in Courtice.

When: This new signal was installed on April 30 and is currently in operation.

Why: To improve safety for motorists, the fully-protected left-turn signal allows motorists to safely make eastbound left-hand turns from Durham Regional Highway 2 onto Courtice Road.

New traffic signal indications were implemented specifically for this movement to ensure motorists only turn left when the green left-turn arrow is visible.

Note: This initiative is in support of Durham Vision Zero, a long-term plan to ensure a safer transportation system that sees no lives lost or serious injuries on Durham’s roadways. Learn more at durham.ca/VisionZero.
