Notice of Construction: Hanover Court, Town of Whitby

Notice of public information centre: Sanitary sewage pumping station and force main replacement.

The Regional Municipality of Durham has hired Ritestart Ltd. to replace the existing sanitary pumping station and sanitary force main located near the northern limit of Hanover Court. This work is to support future development north of the existing northern limit of Hanover Court.

The work will involve replacing the existing in-ground sanitary pumping station and installing temporary bypass pumping to maintain service during construction. Crews will also install a new 75-millimetre high-density polyethylene (HDPE) force main using horizontal directional drilling, along with a new electrical feed and panel to support the upgraded infrastructure.

Site preparation will begin the week of November 16, 2026. Construction is expected to be completed by February 28, 2027. Please note that weather conditions may affect the construction schedule and could result in changes to the anticipated timeline.

Temporary lane restrictions and construction-related traffic impacts may be required from time to time to facilitate the work. Access to local residences will be maintained throughout construction, and residents will be notified in advance of any significant traffic impacts.

Continuous sanitary service will be maintained throughout construction through the installation of a temporary bypass pumping system. The Region does not anticipate any interruptions to sanitary service for connected homes and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

To document existing conditions within the project area, the Region’s contractor will conduct pre-construction surveys of properties adjacent to the work area before construction begins. Following completion of the work, post-construction surveys may also be conducted, if required, to verify that no construction-related impacts have occurred.
